Los Angeles, Feb. 29, 2024 – Age of Learning, the leading education technology innovator and creator of the widely popular ABCmouse® Early Learning Academy, today released two new ESSA-validated research reports that found Jefferson County (Fla.) School District Kindergarten – 2^nd grade students using My Math Academy and My Reading Academy experienced significant increases in their assessment scores for the 2022-2023 school year. Key findings include:

• Using My Math Academy was related to statistically significant increases in kindergarten students’ assessment scores, after controlling for students’ fall scores and their grade levels.
• Using My Reading Academy was related to statistically significant increases in 2nd grade students’ assessment scores, after controlling for students’ fall scores and their grade levels.
• STAR Math assessment results showed that students using My Math Academy for an average of 12 hours reached levels equivalent to the next grade in math.
• STAR Early Literacy assessment results showed that students using My Reading Academy for an average of 14 hours reached levels equivalent to the next grade in reading. 
• All educators reported that My Math Academy and My Reading Academy had a positive impact on their students’ math and reading skills.

“Jefferson County School District’s third graders scored within four points of the state average on the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST), significantly aided by last year’s use of Age of Learning’s My Math Academy and My Reading Academy in second grade. The results highlight the effects of Age of Learning’s personalized digital learning programs on student  achievement and on educators’ capacity to provide effective instruction for their young learners. The results reflect usage of Age of Learning programs by almost 200 kids across 11 kindergarten through second grade classrooms during the 2022-23 school year. The Jefferson County School District continues to use My Math Academy and My Reading Academy in the current 2023-24 school year.

They also indicated the programs’ positive impact on students’ confidence and enjoyment in learning math and reading.

Moreover, 93 percent of educators indicated that the programs empowered their work, for example, a 2^nd grade teacher said, “The program helped me pinpoint my students’ strengths and weaknesses,” and “It has helped address gaps that I otherwise may not be able to with such varied students.”

Age of Learning’s My Math Academy and My Reading Academy are research-backed programs designed to address learner variability, promote equitable instruction, and accelerate learning for preschool through 5th grade students.

Findings from Age of Learning studies are validated by Learn Platform by Instructure, an educational research company that evaluates outcomes for alignment with ESSA standards. The evidence of improvement in student outcomes in Jefferson County School District represent the 8th ESSA-aligned third-party validated research results for My Math Academy and the 7th for My Reading Academy.
