Dan Domenech has had a remarkable career in public education, spanning 50 years as a teacher, superintendent, and advocate. He led one of the nation’s largest school systems, Fairfax County, for seven years and served as Executive Director of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) for 15 years. Prior to joining AASA, Dan served as Senior Vice President for National Urban Markets with McGraw-Hill Education. In this role, he was responsible for building strong relationships with large school districts nationwide.
Domenech began his teaching career in South Jamaica, Queens, and then became program director for the Nassau Board of Cooperative Educational Services. Following this, he was first named Superintendent of Schools for Long Island’s Deer Park Schools and then became Superintendent of Schools for the South Huntington School District. He is currently chair for Communities in Schools of Virginia and the National Student Clearinghouse Research Board. He serves on the board for the Center for Naval Analyses and the A.C.T. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hunter College in New York City and his PhD from Hofstra University in Uniondale, N.Y.
